Hello forum. I am a proud new owner of an 86 635. I live in Philadelphia, and you know I have not seen one other 635 since buying mine. Any other Philadelphian 6's out there. I am in the process of replacing the centre control link, front disc's upper control arms and tie rod ends. Have ordered parts from cybertroll in Maryland, prices seem good just have to instal the bits.
Wondering if anyone knows why when driving the engine seems to surge on light throttle like it is leaning out before the gear shift. Feels strange. Also, anyone know of a wheel manufacturer who could cut the centre of the MTX's out to make a nice 17 inch 3 piece ????

WELCOME! Lots of e24's in Philly! For parts try www.partsforbmws.com (Maximillian). For service try Bavarian Specialties in Kind of Prussia, or my dad's shop, Galbraith motoring in Devon.

As far as your surging problem, check for torn intake hoses, especially the large accordian. Remove it and check carefully for rips and cracks. ALso check all vacuum hoses.

Best bet on 17" 3pc wheels is a set of BBS from a newer BMW like a 528 sport.

Welcome!

Hi everbody!

Just registered, this is an awesome forum! Seems to be quite a few Finns on this forum, well heres one more

Im very tempted in buying a 745i, Ive never driven one but it seems to be one helluva car. Little bit worried about the fuel consumption though, the gas is about 1,20/Litre here now

Fuel consumption is a combination of having a well tuned car, your
driving habits and traffic conditions. On the open road (freeway driving)
I get 22-25 mpg at 90 mph. On the other hand in stop and go traffic
with hard acceleration I get 13-15 mpg.
Ill warn you, do not test-drive a good running 745i or you will be hooked.[12]

joee, somehow I have absolutely no doubt about beeing hooked if I test drive a 745

Here ya go Scottie!

These pictures were taken when I just had bought the car,
a few years back, you can see the original wheels missing.
The car is a restoration project, and I think its going
to take a while to finish it, since I want it to be done properly.

Damn that it looks good. The engine room is so loaded with stuff. You have those rare alloys on, at least I hardly see those.

What the heck is that device before the throttle fly?

Timo

Looks like the injection spider. Never seen one with plastic fuel lines before!
