| solenoid is what + where? |
| M545i | I have bought another 745i engine ('85) and would like to check if I am not missing something:
1) the pressure line from turbo to wastegate is interupted but nothing is connected (solenoid????)
2) at the glovebox comes 2 big connectors (1 for ECU and 1 for knock control) + three smaller connectors. I read (745i.com) something about the relay which is necesary to start and sits next to the speaker passengers door?! Is this connected to one of the smaller connectors? I don't have it and it worries me .
Thanks,
M545i

| Bob745_Dallas | 1) The solenoid is mounted on the AFM bracket. It has a 2-pin electrical connector and 2 vacuum ports on top and a single vacuum port on bottom.
2) The 2- 35 pin connectors are both for the Motronic. One goes to the "analog" side and one to the "digital" side. The digital side is also where most of the tranny functions are and it will have wires split off going over to the tranny relay which mounts on the speaker panel. Other wires split off of this connector and go to the knock control computer. Check www.745.com for further info. If you need it I can give you the exact wire colors/diagram for each function, but I believe Jens has put most of the pertinent info. on his site already.

| M545i | Thanks Bob,
I wont be using the auto tranny so I believe it is normal that I don't see this relay?
I will first check everything and come back with questions later.
I think I also miss the solenoid (is that cheap?)

| Joe745i | That solenoid cost me $100 (incl. shipping) from Becker imports here in USA. I Think Maximillian here in USA sells it a little bit cheaper ($90), but they always take a long time for shipping.
